For Mother’s Day this year, I bought my mom tickets to the Austin Weird Homes tour. My dad and brother tagged along as well. We drove all over Austin, stopping at 7 of the cities weirdest (read: coolest) homes. It was such a fun day! Because the tour took us all over the city, not only did we get to see new neighborhoods, but we got to try new foods in Muller and on South Lamar. All of the homes we visited were great (and I included pictures from many below), but the two that really stood out to me were Casa Neverlandia and the home of The Collector (the man that owns and operates Uncommon Objects on South Congress).
Casa Neverlandia is just off South 1st. It’s the home of an incredibly creative architect and contractor who designed and build his own piece of paradise. You can read all about it on their webpage – I linked to it below. Case Neverlandia has a huge treehouse in the back with connecting rope bridge. What’s amazing is that from the top, you can see downtown!
The home of The Collector was awesome to see. It looks just like his store, Ucommon Objects. There is SO much packed into his little space, yet everything is organized and nice looking. Apparently, he collected so much stuff, he filled his house. That’s when he decided to open the store!
I also completed the ATX Weird Homes instagram challenge and won two tickets to next year’s tour – hurray!
