The first place my family and I went to get in the holiday spirit was The Domain. They have a great light show that syncs with all the lights up and down the shops (the ones behind Dicks), along with the large Christmas tree outside of iPic. The show is at the top of every hour starting at 6pm and lasts about 15 minutes.
I started playing around with Boomerang and I’m obsessed.
Before looking at the lights, we had dinner at Shake Shack. Their holiday shakes are amazing!! This one is the chocolate peppermint. Delicious!
Since we were already in the northeast, we went on out to Round Rock after the Domain. We went to their Rock’N Lights Holiday Light Tour drive-thru. It was pretty fantastic! I had no idea what to expect, but there’s a trippy light tunnel at the end that is worth the whole drive.
Then, last Friday we went out to Mozart Coffee to see their light show. As if I needed more of a reason to go to Mozart Coffee! Their light show was pretty elaborate. Certainly the most elaborate lights-to-music display I’ve seen since something from Disneyland. Before the show, I got a large coffee and brownie. It’s impossible to walk up to that huge pastry bar and not grab something.
I also did the “First Annual” Downtown Leander Rudolph Run! I did the 5K (after sitting on my couch for the last… 6 months or so). I managed to run the whole thing! True, it was more of a very slow trot than a run, but it wasn’t a walk. That was a major victory for me 🙂 Gearing up for another Austin Statesman Cap City 10K.
Still on my “to-see” list:
(the incredible) Lakeway Trail of Lights
Austin Trail of Lights
Johnson City
Marble Falls
San Antonio’s downtown display, and whatever else I can fit in!
