Austin Eats Round-Up (Pt. IV)

I often photograph my food, but sometimes I don’t have enough photos or content to make individual posts. So here’s the round-up of my latest Austin eats. In the last month or so, I’ve been to a couple of particularly cool places. Links to all the locations are included in the post.

Previous installments include…

Part II
Part III

At the start of the fall, I finished up my 2016 Austin Passbook! Brian and I went to The Midway food park to eat at Science Cream (liquid nitrogen made ice cream) and Dock and Roll. Both are absolutely delicious places. I would argue that Dock and Roll is one of the best food trucks in Austin – their lobster rolls are THAT good. I’ve had Dock and Roll several times and love have loved it every time. There’s also plenty more food trucks to check out at Midway (like the Cheesecake Experience).

I don’t care if it’s literally freezing outside – if you drive by an Andy’s Custard, you have to stop. They sell amazingly creamy, delicious frozen custard (called ‘concretes’). A new location just opened up in Cedar Park between my house and HEB… I drive by it everyday and it is SO dangerous. If you bring your dog, they will give you a puppy cone!

Next, Brian and I went to the Rotten Bunch on Parmer in North Austin after school on day. We had a fun cheese plate (with incredible pretzel bread). I was feeling particularly adventurous that evening and tried their watermelon sangria. Also good, but I think I’ll stick to regular sangria next time. The Rotten Bunch is a great place to grab a drink and some appetizers/tapas. It’s not really a dinner meal kind of place.

What is a dinner place is The Dogwood at Rock Rose! It’s a nice bar with delicious food and a wonderful rooftop dinning area. These pulled pork tacos were surprisingly tasty. Everyone in my family was pleased with their meals. If you’re interested in more places at Rock Rose, click the link to see where else I’ve been.

Looking for dessert? If you’re at the Lakeline Mall in North Austin, there’s a Hey Cupcake! vending machine. Yes, a vending machine! It was so cute and unique, I had to get one.

If cupcakes on the go aren’t your thing (you need to reorganize your priorities, first of all…) maybe blender bowls are. In the heart of downtown, just off 4th street, there’s a Blenders & Bowls, an acai cafe that makes smoothies and smoothie bowls. I got the “OG” bowl and it was delicious! It had fruit, granola, and all kinds of other toppings and mix ins. Definitely keeping Blenders & Bowls on my radar for when I’m downtown and what something healthy to eat.
