South Austin

With my wonderful Christmas Break free time, my brother and I went exploring South Ausin. Our fist stop was South Lamar for lunch. Obviously, we chose Ramen Tatsu-Ya. This was the first time I’d been to this location, and I have to say, the line moved WAY slower than at their north location. However, it was worth the wait, as the food was absolutely delicious as always. I got the original bowl with an extra egg and a green tea.

Next, we drove over to South Congress. I’d been wanting to poke around Big Top Candy Shop again. I didn’t buy anything this time around, because the line was so long! A lot of people buying Christmas presents, I guess. But I’m glad to see this little candy shop is still doing the business. After Big Top, we stopped at South Congress Books. This cool book store has first editions, signed copies, vintage covers… everything you could ask for as a book lover. I found a signed copy of Persepolis that I thought was cool! I’d just finished reading this graphic novel a few days ago. Our final stop on South Congress was Amy’s Ice Creams. It was in the 70s when we were walking around, so why not!

Also, found this guy running around South Congress!!

After South Congress, we walked to South First. We stopped at the always wonderful Seventh Flag Coffee first. After fueling up, we strolled along, walked by a moon tower, then finally got a snack at Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop. They won Cupcake Wars! I got a vegan cookies and cream cupcake. Absolutely delicious!

Overall, a super fun afternoon exploring and eating our way though some popular spots in South Austin.
