I’m lucky enough to visit new restaurants every single week. One of my greatest hobbies is trying new food places. I follow all the right Austin social media feeds, looking for what’s hip and new. All this work scrolling Instagram feeds, driving around Austin, eating at food truck after food truck, has lead me to my new favorite restaurant…
And it’s in San Antonio.
La Gloria – Street Foods of Mexico, is my new absolute favorite restaurant. Created by chef Johnny Hernandez, “La Gloria is a place that was created to celebrate the rich and delicious street foods from interior Mexico. From tacos al pastor in Mexico City, tlayudas in Oaxaca, to coctéles de mariscos from Veracruz, Mexico’s street foods are as unique and colorful as its traditions, people and culture.”
I love every bit of it.
Right now, my go to meal is a queso molcajete with flour tortillas, dorados verdes (chicken tacos with green sauce), and one of their KILLER frozen margaritas with a chile rim. The first time I went to La Gloria, I was freaking out the whole time about absolutely delicious the food was. I’m not going to lie, when I got home, I was wondering if maybe the margarita had gotten to my head. It’s a super strong drink – one and I’ve got a real serious buzz.
The second time, I went in very skeptical. NOPE. The food was just as good as the first time. And the drink was just as strong.
Also, they have chickens roaming on their patio…
