Austin Eats Round-Up (ed. 5)

I often photograph my food, but sometimes I don’t have enough photos or content to make individual posts. So here’s the round-up of my latest Austin eats. In the last month or so, I’ve been to a couple of particularly cool places. Links to all the locations are included in the post.

I’m not new to Torchy’s Tacos (a trashy trailer park and a fried avocado is my preferred order), but I am new to their queso! Had it for the first time a little while ago. It is deliciously spicy.

A healthier option would be Soup Peddler. They serve delicious soups, sandwiches, and juices. I got a broccoli cheese soup and their “Business Time” smoothie, which is cold-brewed espresso, banana, peanut butter, raw local honey, cacao, rice milk. The smoothie was absolutely amazing – tasty and filling. Soup Peddler is a perfect “fast food” option right off the my commute on those days when making dinner is just something I cannot do.

Next up is Lick Honest Ice Cream. Their fresh, clean ice cream is bursting with flavor. They have some unique concoctions and season flavors, like cilantro lime and grapefruit champagne marshmallow. I actually visited their San Antonio location, but they are also here in Austin.

Eastside Tavern is a really great to hang out after work. Their ambiance is very light and airy. They have succulents on all of their tables, which I love, obviously, and some killer sangria margaritas. I got a pulled pork baked potato, smothered in queso. Too much goodness. My mom and a very cute grilled cheese.

While exploring the NORTHSIDE at the Domain, my family and I ate at Culinary Dropout (make sure you make a reservation!). I had a plate of nachos that was bigger than my head. They also have a pretty good drink happy hour. The space inside is huge and they have a large patio with various lawn games for you to play. By the time we left, the bar area was packed with professionals after work.

Finally, I love me some good beverages. Last time I went to Starbucks, they had their new springtime cups! Really cute – I love them. A new Juiceland opened on 183. It’s the closest one to my house (until the one in the new Whole Foods 365 store opens in Cedar Park!). Of course, I spent some time at Mozart Coffee working. It was cold and rainy, but it was still packed with people.
