Thank you, French Tex Cuisine, for inviting me to try your food! While I did receive some complimentary treats, all opinions are my own. Now, let’s get to it!
Last Saturday, I tried out a new food truck called French Tex Cuisine. They’re located on South Lamar at the South Lamar food truck park. The park is pretty cool – several trucks, lots of parking and tables, with restrooms available.
Anyway, French Tex Cuisine is a little French/Tex Mex truck. They’re “Farm-to-Trailer” meaning they have a super close relationship with all the farmers that grow their food. They even have a small herb garden located at their truck!
Their specialty is the galette, which is like a savory, buckwheat crepe filled with all kinds of goodness! I tried their French taco, which is brisket, white queso, and avocado. It was pretty delicious. They have all kinds of meats and fillings to go inside, but I heard “queso” and was sold.
They also have crepes, which were my personal favorite. The fried banana one was absolutely delicious, topped with caramel straight from France.
No really, Chef Frederic Jagu worked in the Paris food scene for 10 years before coming to Austin. Apparently his mother sent him a whole crate of caramel for Christmas and he’s been using that on all his crepes.
My favorite thing about his truck though, is the design of it. I LOVED being able to see Chef Jagu cooking! It has an open air cooking space, which made for some wonderful photo-ops.
All in all, delicious truck with a good mix of sweet and savory. Chef Jagu is super friendly and is ready and waiting to cook you some French Tex Cuisine! Thanks to French Tex Cuisine for having me and the other food bloggers poke our cameras around all your food!
I love French-Tex Cuisine!
