Thank you, Word of Mouth Bakery, for inviting me out to try your food! While I did receive some complimentary treats, all opinions are my own. Now, let’s get to it!

Word of Mouth Bakery is located at 917 W 12th, at the corner of 12th and Lamar. Before you visit, I would check out their hours. They’re not open all day every day, so be sure you’re visiting when they’re open! They have a small parking lot right next to their bakery. Brian and I went on a Saturday afternoon and didn’t have any trouble finding a place to park. Word of Mouth Bakery bakes everything in another building that is just on the other side of the parking lot. Everything is made fresh daily!

First, we tried The Breakfast Sandwich. It has chicken sausage, a fried egg, cheese and a side of gravy. The biscuit was delicious! Pro tip: Eat the sandwich with a knife and fork. I little nerdy, yes, but the biscuit crumbles and makes a huge mess. Brian wanted to order a biscuit to eat on its own, it was so tasty. He even said it was one of his favorite breakfast sandwiches ever! Ever!

Next, we had their butter croissant. The wonderful lady behind the counter said their butter croissants were some of their best sellers. She said they usually sell out, but luckily there were still a few remaining. Their croissants lived up to the hype. If I lived closer, I could see myself picking up one of these on my way to work each morning. They’re pretty large – a shareable size, I’d say.

In addition to breakfast sandwiches and baked goods, Word of Mouth Bakery has lunch sandwiches, salads, and soups. We tried their Soup of the Day which was tomato soup with crab (yes, with crab) and lemon kale salad. The tomato soup was absolutely wonderful. Sometimes, tomato soup can be too sweet for my taste. This was not sweet at all, just tomato-y goodness. And it had large chunks of crab in it! We both loved it.

The lemon kale salad was large enough to be a meal on its own. It was topped with a creamy lemon dressing. I really enjoyed it.
Some other sweet desserts we tried were their s’mores bar, sprinkle-filled sugar cookie, and red velvet cupcake. The highlight by far was the red velvet cupcake. I’m a huge fan of cream cheese frosting! They do have other cupcakes, if that’s what you prefer. The cake was so moist and frosting was so sweet, I basically crammed the whole thing into my mouth. I couldn’t eat it fast enough, it was so good! The s’mores bar has a huge chocolate chunk on the top, which I loved, and the sugar cookie would be perfect if you had a little one with you. However, their cupcakes are far superior to any of the other desserts I tried.
What to order: The Breakfast Sandwich with a cream cheese frosting cupcake. If you’re here on a day they have tomato soup, get that too.
