Abby Jane Bakeshop

There’s a new bakery in town! Well, in the Hill Country, to be exact. Abby Jane Bakeshop had their soft opening this past weekend and let me tell you, it’s worth the trip! Abby Jane Bakeshop was started by Abby Jane Love and her singular goal is to make delicious baked goods from the heritage grains grown in Texas and milled in Dripping Springs.

While I did receive discounted food and drinks, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Located on Fitzhugh Road at the same turn off as Treaty Oak, Abby Jane Bakeshop has taken up residence inside of Barton Springs Mill! Perfect spot for a bakery, right? There’s actually a huge window where you can watch what’s going on in the mill while you wait for your order.

Their regular menu offers a variety of breads, pastries, pizza, sandwiches, grain salads and of course, delicious baked goods. I’m talking cakes and scones and brownies and MORE! I tried a sampling of their pastries and liked the chocolate mint cookie the best. It’s like a big, soft Thin Mint. Super delicious. And while I didn’t get any this visit, you bet I’ll be back for some of their cake! Finally, I sliced up some of their Big Country sourdough loaf this morning and it was wonderful! I topped mine with a little butter and peanut butter – divine.

If you’re visiting later in the day and need something a little more hearty than pastries, Abby Jane Bakeshop is also serving up some tasty pizzas! I tried their wood-fired meaty pizza and it was wonderful! They have a few beers on tap as well. The addition of draft beers and lunch items makes this an easy place to hang out at.

I’m a fan of the minimalistic, industrial design of the bakeshop. There’s no indoor seating right now, but that allows for ample social distancing while you order. Outside, there are picnic tables beneath the trees. I felt totally fine eating my pizza and drinking my Roughhouse Beer out there. Curbside pick up is also an option! Abby Jane Bakeshop officially opens on Thursday, January 21st! They’ll be open Thursday-Friday from 8am to 4pm and Saturday-Sunday from 9am to 4pm. Find them on Instagram @abbyjaneyall so you can drool over what they’re baking up!

Thanks again for inviting me to the soft opening, Abby Jane Bakeshop! I had a wonderful time and I wish you guys lots of success on opening day!
