Welcome to the 30th (!) edition of Austin Eats Round-Up! My first Austin Eats Round up was posted on July 17th, 2016. Can you believe that? It’s a little cringey to look at (I’ve come a long way in blogging and photography since 2016) but it’s still fun to look back at it.
This edition I’m focusing on easy grab-and-go spots, expansive patios, and local Cedar Park/Leander hits. Be sure to follow me on instagram at @DiscoveringATX to see my Austin foodie adventures in real-time!
And with that, let’s get into it!

3742 Far W Blvd #101, Austin, TX 78731
If you’re wanting some good bagels and deli sandwiches, look no further than @bidermansdeli. This casual Jewish-inspired deli on Far West Blvd is perfect for when your lox craving hits. I got the lox deluxe bagel and it came with schemer, nova lox, tomato, onion, and capers. So freaking good – highly recommended. You can very easily pick up an order to go, order curbside pickup, or sit inside and hangout for a bit. They’re located in a strip of businesses off Far West Blvd, so parking is a breeze!
401 Cypress Creek Road #100, Cedar Park, TX 78613
I’m a sucker for cute packaging. Places like @thebrewtique in Cedar Park are so fun because I get to mix and match a 6-pack according to the cutest cans. I got some fun pickle beers (yep, pickle beer!), Bear King Brewing (some of my favorite branding around, honestly), banana bread beer, peanut butter milk stout, and more. If you’re ever in a beer funk or just want to try some new flavors, hit up The Brewtique! You can also pay a small $2 “pop a top” fee and drink the beers on-site. They have tables inside and outside where you can chill. Their inventory is constantly changing, so you’ll never get bored.
Meanwhile Brewing
3901 Promontory Point Dr., Austin, TX 78744
@meanwhilebeer describes themselves as beer-people and people-people, both of which definitely come through in the atmosphere they’ve set up and the beers they’ve crafted. They’ve got a large outdoor space with ample shade that’s dog-friendly and kid-friendly (with a play area!). Their interior is definitely smaller than their massive outdoor space, so plan to come on off hours if sitting inside is a priority. The design inside is beautiful, though, with spacious booth seating and a large bar. I especially like the letter board menu framed with plants. In addition to beer, they serve coffee, tea, wine, cocktails, and more. And of course, we can’t forget the food trucks! Regular food trucks include @distantrelativesatx, @doughboysatx, @besameatx, and @puebloviejoaustin. Overall, the space at Meanwhile Brewing is pretty awesome. I’d especially recommend it for families who need a kid-friendly brewery, for after work happy hours, and for those who just want a relaxed space to chill with a beer.
Palomino Coffee
4136 E 12th St, Austin, TX 78721
I had a bit of time to kill one day, so I went to @palominocoffee. They have a little covered patio outside, the the interior is where it’s at. The dessert-chic vibes are on point. I got a matcha latte (Totally unsweetened, FYI. I don’t like sweet matcha lattes, but drinking one without any sweetness at all is always a bit of a wake up). This little coffee shop is such a delightful east Austin spot to chill. They have a large parking lot as well.
Red Horn Brewing
13010 W Parmer Ln. #800, Cedar Park, TX 78613
Attention Cedar Park/Leander! If you have’t been to @redhornbrew off Scottsdale Drive, add it to your list ASAP. It’s in a very office-looking development, but the inside of Red Horn Brewing is beautiful! Large inside space, massive bar with gorgeous red tile, and detailed wood work on the walls and tables. It’s so great! They really tried to make the interior design warm and welcoming and it shows. In addition to their beer, they have a full espresso bar, matcha, chai, loose leaf tea, breakfast tacos, a breakfast sandwich, regular lunch tacos, veggie options, queso, nachos, a bacon wrapped sausage dog… even a soft shell crab sandwich! So many options! Red Horn – look for me! I’m your new regular. So happy to have a cool spot like this RIGHT outside the neighborhood. I also swung by Red Horn for breakfast. Their breakfast sandwich is excellent! I also really enjoyed the unsweet matcha latte. I loved how many people were sitting at their own tables, working independently on their computers! It’s a perfect work spot and I’ll for sure be taking advantage of it soon.
Whipped ATX
15609 Ronald Reagan Blvd B220, Leander, TX 78641
Want a weekend snack? Pick up some cupcakes from @whippedatx! I tried their Nutella peanut butter and tres leches cupcakes – both were delicious. They’re probably most known form their impressive FATcarons. The interior has a few little seating areas, with a bright, airy, Parisian vibe. They’re located in a small shopping area off Ronald Reagan, so there’s plenty of easy parking!
519 West 37th Street, Austin, TX 78705
Have you been to @thrivecrafthouse? Their menu is pretty extensive, they have 40+ beers on their rotating tap list, events/live music nearly every night… and Groovy Lube is right next door! Get your oil changed and chill and @thrivecrafthouse while you wait. I ordered from their breakfast menu – avocado toast with a fried egg and a balsamic vinaigrette. Brian got the fish and chips and was very impressed! Good food + chill atmosphere + great beer selection = place I’ll for sure be going back to!
