Austin Eats Round-Up (ed. 32)

Welcome to the 32nd edition of Austin Eats Round-Up! These little foodie recap blogs highlight the food, drinks, and general Austin things I’m loving right now.

This edition features lots of boba! I’m always on the hunt for new boba tea places. It also features tacos (with a major nostalgia surprise for us ex-Californians), a brewery that makes a perfect work-from-home spot, and some healthy eats for the new year.

And with that, let’s get into it!

TSAOCCA Austin
13776 Research Blvd #105, Austin, TX 78750
Time for a new (to me) boba spot! I tried a Matcha Bubble Milk from @tsaocaatx and it was delicious! More milky, less matcha-y than I would prefer, but the sweetness level was perfect. In addition to some milk tea, I also got some macaroons which came in adorable little packages. I also tried one of their matcha Hong Kong Bubble Waffles. It was a little crispy, but did make a perfect snack as I drove around and ran errands the rest of the day! I just stuck it in my cup holder and picked at it all afternoon. Tsaocca has a pretty large menu, so I’ll definitely be back soon to explore more of it.

Hopsquad Brewing
2307 Kramer Ln, Austin, TX 78758
If you’re like me and often work from home, you know that sometimes you need to get out of the house. Still be productive, but just… not at home. @hopsquadbrewing is the perfect place for those days. They have a huge indoor and outdoor space with plenty of large tables. If you go during the middle of the day when it’s not super crowded, you could spread your stuff out over one and make yourself at home. Their wifi is excellent, their beer is excellent AND they have a food truck on sight (@doughsquad). It’s not open all the time, though (Wed-Sunday, 12-8), so plan accordingly.

sweetgreen
1007 S Congress Ave Suite 120, Austin, TX 78704
Looking for a healthy, hearty lunch? I tried @sweetgreen for the first time and it was pretty tasty! Bowls range from about $12-$14, but there is one for $9.95 (the Super Green Goddess). If you’re like me, though, these bowls are often good for more than one meal. I got one of their seasonal bowls with curry and cauliflower, but their regular menu is jam packed with healthy options. I went to their South Congress location, located at Music Lane. I still need to explore that area more – there is so much new stuff around there!

R19 Taqueria
2422 Ranch Rd 620 S A-120, Austin, TX 78738
The taqueria from Reunion 19, R19, just opened in Lakeway around the corner from my parents house! My parents have been going frequently and love it. R19 has West Coast-inspired adaptations of classic Mexican food and tacos on delicious, thick corn tortillas. I had their Al Pastor and their Cali-Flower. The Cauliflower taco was absolutely delicious and will be a regular of mine when I order. They also have burritos stuffed with various proteins and… French fries! Oh yeah! The thing that sold me on R19 though, was their ultra-limited supply of CACTUS COOLER. Californians out there know – Cactus Cooler is a lifestyle.

Long Tea
1821 S Lakeline Blvd STE 102, Cedar Park, TX 78613
Let’s bookend this with another boba tea location. Long Tea is perhaps the boba tea location closest to my house and I only just recently visited! It was delicious. The matcha milk tea had that slightly powdery mouth-feel (a good thing!) with excellent flavor. I got it at 25% sweetness and it was perfect. They’re still closed inside, so no hanging out quite yet, but you can still go inside and order to go!

That’s it! The 32nd edition of Austin Eats Round-Up is in the books. Follow me on instagram at @DiscoveringATX to see my Austin foodie adventures in real-time! I’ve got plenty more round ups to come, so give the blog a follow too! That way, you’ll get an email when I post something new.
