New Food Trucks in Leander, Texas, at Wildfire Park

Wildfire Park in Leander, Texas is a wonderful collection of food trucks, artisans, and Saturday market vendors. There is ample seating (even fire pits!), good parking, and delicious food and drinks.

On my first visit to the Saturday Market (9am-1pm), I picked up some honey from one of Peanut Hill’s partners. Finding local honey is so important because it builds immunities to allergies caused by pollens in your area (Right? I’m no doctor, but I’m pretty sure that’s true??). So when I found honey that was collected a few miles from my house, I was pumped. I also perused through Wildfire Artisans adorable airstream. They’re selling art, pottery, jewelry, clothing, and bunch of other cute trinkets.

The vendors at the market are growing every weekend! According to their website, there is now… Grass-Fed Meat, Chicken, Pork, Free-Range Eggs,  French Baker, Mediterranean Food, Sour Dough Bread, Imported Cheese, Canned Veggies, Fresh Veggies, Local Honey, Jelly, Vintage Clothes and Antiques, Jewelry, Baked Goods, Salsa, Woodworking, Mushrooms and more!

After shopping, be sure to check out two of my favorite food trucks – Britos and Matinee Coffee + Concessions. Britos is serving modern street food with influences from Venezuela. The Britos menu is packed with delicious options. They also make their own brioche buns, arepa, and bao, offering items like fried chicken bao, bacon, egg and cheese brioche, brisket arepa, and MORE. I tried two menu items (but it was sooo hard to choose):

Torrijas and raspberry cream cheese. This was SO good. This Spanish-style of French toast is meant to be crispy on the outside and have a custardy, bread pudding center. It was perfect! The raspberry cream cheese offered a perfect, non-sweet tang to contrast the sweet toast. 10/10 will order again.

Avocado Tostada. Their homemade sourdough is stacked with avocado, cheery tomatoes, onions, and garlic aioli. The ONE downside to this tostada is that the crispy toast is really hard to cut with the flimsy plastic knife and fork you get.

Breakfast Sandwich. Egg, cheese, and bacon on a house-made brioche bun. So good!

A food truck with old school horror film font, a giant alligator mascot, and nothing but memes on their instagram. Ah yes, that’s the spot to get your coffee. Do you believe me? You should!

Matinee Coffee + Concessions is a coffee food truck serving up delicious drinks and small local snacks. The menu is great. The espresso is exceptional and so any regular espresso drink would be delicious, but Adam also has an extensive menu of fun, sweeter lattes, including matcha and chai. I ordered a matcha rose latte and an affogato. The latte was SO beautiful, I just wasn’t expecting it.

As I listened to owner Adam talk to customers, it was clear to me Matinee Coffee + Concessions has some loyal regulars. He knows their names, drinks, and how they like their sweetness levels. It makes sense – he’s literally the only human running the truck.

Once I got over the beautiful LOOK of the latte, I drank it! The flavors were perfect. Beet powder enhanced the rose and it wasn’t too sweet (I just got regular sweetness). I might even try less next time because that’s usually what I like.

Adam makes all his own syrups and shops small for everything else. The matcha is Matcha Nude from Asheville, the gelato in the affogato is from Teo Gelato right here in Austin, and the coffee and espresso is from Panther Coffee in Miami.

When I go out on foodie content crawls, I make it a point to bring Tupperware with me, bring ice packs, all kinds of stuff to NOT eat or drink everything in it’s entirety (I’d fill up at the first stop! And/or be loaded with caffeine 😆). Welp, I failed at Matinee Coffee + Concessions.

I drank the whole latte and ate the whole affogato.

Other new food trucks to the park include The Boss Tacos Y Mas, Stubblefield BBQ, and BKK Thai Street Food. I have yet to try The Boss, but I will soon!

The two meat plate from Stubblefield’s BBQ was pretty tasty – the smothered green beans definitely stole the show. Stubblefield’s BBQ is a family run truck by the grandchildren of “Stubb,” from Stubb’s BBQ.

And the beef pad Thai from BKK Thai Street Food was delicious! I’m looking forward to trying more of their menu in the future!

If you’re in Leander, or are just looking for a chill weekend outing, I’d highly recommend visiting Wildfire Park.
