PREP ATX: The Largest Commercial Kitchen Facility in Texas

PREP ATX, the largest commercial kitchen facility in Texas, has opened right here in Austin! It features state-of-the-art private, shared, ghost/delivery, and food truck kitchens within its 55,000 square foot space.

Thanks for inviting me to tour and taste, PREP ATX! While the bites were complementary, all thoughts and opinions below are my own.

PREP ATX offers facilities, amenities, and services to help food entrepreneurs take their business to the next level. There are currently 50 members at the Austin location who take part in the private and shared coworking kitchen spaces! The list is pretty impressive.

I was able to walk around and sample from a TON of businesses. Places like The Bearded Baking Company, Kin Zen, Dream Bakery, Cantaloupe Island, Lulus Pie Shoppe, Potadoughs Donuts, Ato Chef’s Table, Easy Tiger, It’s all Good Goods, and Flavor Co. Catering all had little sample plates set out for us.

Other small businesses who use PREP ATX like Thanks Danks, Comal Fajita House, SimpliThai, Chop Chop 512, ATX Hot Sauce, Kimbala Chai, and Sipsby sent us home with awesome goodie bag treats! Can you believe all these places are working out of PREP ATX?

While most of the facility is used as a coworking kitchen space, there are a few businesses that sell food right out of their PREP ATX kitchens! You can order takeout and eat inside at tables, or outdoor under the string lights at picnic tables.

I have to say – I absolutely love the idea of ghost kitchens and shared kitchen spaces like this. I’ve seen Dõ Bakery start from the trunk of founder Camila’s car, where I picked up the most delicious bread assortment in a Whole Foods parking lot. Now, she has a kitchen space at PREP ATX! I cannot WAIT to see how she’s able to grow her business. Thanks Danks makes small batch, hand crafted beef jerky and let me tell you – it’s the BEST jerky I’ve ever eaten and deserves to be sold FAR AND WIDE. The granola from It’s All Good Goods is out-of-this-world good. Those are just a few of many incredible food entrepreneurs that exist within the PREP ATX walls.

Check out all the members on the PREP ATX website and shop them! Hit up their food trucks, find them at markets, order takeout from their PREP ATX kitchen spaces directly… these foodie entrepreneurs are killin’ it! So glad Austin can be home to facility like PREP ATX.
