Austin Eats Round-Up (ed. 6)

I often photograph my food, but sometimes I don’t have enough photos or content to make individual posts. So here’s the round-up of my latest Austin eats. In the last month or so, I’ve been to a couple of particularly cool places. Links to all the locations are included in the post.

On our way out of town the other weekend, we drove by Stonehouse Coffee. I’ve been seeing Stonehouse Coffee all over my instagram feed lately, so I was curious to see what all the hype was about. It’s a super cute little coffee shop that is located inside the Dawson Stone House, a historic landmark. I had a pour over coffee and Brian and a tasty vanilla latte. It was the perfect cup of coffee on the go for us, but you could also bring your laptop and hang out for a bit. The baristas were so nice and friendly. The barista doing my pour over let me watch her do it and explained the whole process to me. It was really fun!

PS – Burro Cheese has a trailer in the parking lot! Grab a breakfast taco with your coffee.

For Mother’s Day, we had brunch at Z’Tejas at the Arboretum. They have a delicious brunch menu! All entrees come with a basket of mini muffins, which I loved, obviously. The view is wonderful, if you get the chance to sit outside.

I’ve been to the Driskill to have brunch at 1886 Cafe before (check it out here), but the last time I visited was for drinks and dessert. We went to the bar at the back of the hotel. My family ordered a variety of drinks, all great and fairly priced. Then, there’s the dessert. I ordered the ice cream sandwich and was totally surprised with two sandwiches in a cute metal tin. My mom’s chocolate cake was decorated with gold leaf and “1886” written in icing. It was all very impressive.

My main point here: You can enjoy a lot of things at the Driskill without having a room in the hotel.

I’ve been avoiding this one for a long time. A Tiff’s Treats opened down the street from us and I knew it was going to be bad news. I stayed away for a long time, but with the end of school craziness, I just really wanted a big, delicious ice cream sandwich with oey-goey Tiff’s Treats cookies. Totally worth it.

Other goodies from the last month include Soup Peddler smoothies, lobster rolls, cheesecake, tea on tap from Salata, Mod Pizza, great views from Joes Crab Shack on the lake, and a much needed Recovery Punch from the new Juiceland inside 365 by Whole Foods.
